Lantau Peak

See Sunrise from a Mountaintop

At a height of 934 metres, Lantau Peak is the second-highest mountain in Hong Kong, and a prized spot for watching the sunrise. The climb takes around two hours, so spending the night in a hostel in Ngong Ping is a good idea. If you set off from Ngong Ping at about 4am, you should be able to catch the 6am sunrise at the summit. The best time of year for a truly photo-worthy sunrise is December to February, during Hong Kong’s brief but relatively dry winter, when there are fewer clouds and only a thin haze.
